ICAP to hold 19th annual global Charity Day on Wednesday 7 December
05 December 2011
London, December 5, 2011 – ICAP, the world’s leading interdealer broker, will hold its 19th annual global Charity Day on Wednesday, 7 December 2011. On this day, 100% of ICAP’s revenues and commissions will be donated to more than 200 charities around the world.
Since 1993, ICAP Charity Day has raised funds for more than 1,000 well-deserving charities worldwide. Last year, £12.1 million was raised on Charity Day, bringing the total raised to over £76 million. This year 16 charities in the UK will benefit, among them Cure Parkinson’s Trust, Fight for Peace and Maggie’s Cancer Centres.
As part of the day’s activities, ICAP invites this year’s charities’ celebrity patrons to join the company in 60 offices worldwide to speak to ICAP’s customers and help boost trading volumes for the day. The list of celebrities attending will be announced on the day. The Duke of Cambridge, Prince Harry, Daniel Craig, David Tennant and Elton John have been just a few of those who have lent their support to ICAP in the UK in previous years.
Michael Spencer, Group Chief Executive Officer, ICAP, said; “I’m enormously proud of what we have achieved with the ICAP Charity Day since 1993. I want to thank all our customers, employees and suppliers who make it possible. Hundreds of thousands of lives have been improved or saved because of the projects their generosity has funded. We all know how hard it is for charities to raise money in these difficult times, so this year ICAP’s Charity Day is more important than ever. Together we will give 100%.”
