ICAP appoints Patrick McCarty Head of US Government Relations

New York , 18 April 2011 – ICAP Plc (IAP.L), the world’s premier interdealer broker, announced today that it has appointed Patrick McCarty as Managing Director, Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs in the United States, effective immediately. Mr. McCarty will be based in Washington, DC.
“Patrick has significant experience in political and regulatory affairs in Washington, having served in a number of roles that have equipped him with a deep and broad understanding of the legislative, regulatory, and political process. He also brings with him an in-depth knowledge of the derivatives industry, and I’m certain he will be a great asset to ICAP during this important period,” said John Nixon, Group Executive Director of ICAP Americas.
Mr. McCarty, 53, has over 25 years experience working on financial services issues in various regulatory agencies and political groups in Washington, DC, and New York, NY, including most recently with the U.S. Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee, where he was the Senior Professional Staff Member working on Dodd-Frank financial reform issues, as well as other issues concerning the derivatives industry. He has also held senior positions with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Managed Funds Association, the House Banking and Financial Services Committee, as well as four federal banking agencies and other private sector organizations. Mr. McCarty has spoken at many industry seminars and conferences. He received a BA in Economics from the University of Virginia, and a JD from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. Mr. McCarty lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife Maureen and four children.
